Exciting news for Skills and Drills shooters!

July 9, 2019 NewslettersSkills and Drills

There haven’t been any classes this summer due to the sheer number of away matches we’ve luckily had for IPSC season. So far the Abby crew is kicking some serious ass, and we’ve seen a big influx of members from other clubs who want to come be near us, or train with us, or something. There should be some Saturday nights coming up soon for the vetted and approved IPSC members to come play at, likely during the Nationals weekend or something. Regular classes will start up again after the European Handgun Championships, so watch your emails for that. Of course Tuesday nights are still on and a phenomenal place to get your fix/training in during the week. Kelly has really ramped up Steel nights into something that will work you hard, and is still fun. If you want to improve your IPSC game, or just have fun shooting steel, show up, it’s $5 for the night, starting at 7pm down on Range 4 and 5.

Next year isn’t as far away as you’d think it is, and we are excited to have an event planned already. John Johnston of Ballistic Radio and Citizens Defense Network is coming to town on April 4th and 5th for 2 one day classes. John is an incredibly well known and respected instructor from the US and this will be his first classes in Canada. Cost is $200 USD for the day and with a max of 10 students in each class, you’ll be getting more instructor time than is common courses, and it’s a full 10hr day too. This is a great way to tune up for the 2020 season and will see you pushed to your limits. It’s on the indoor so weather doesn’t matter.

Technical Handgun: Tests and Standards

This class is fast paced intermediate/advanced level 10-hour class where we will dive into the weeds on technical shooting standards, and the fundamental skills it takes to be successful performing them. The day’s curriculum is heavily student driven, and will vary slightly from class to class. A heavy emphasis will be placed on pushing people to new levels of automaticity. Multiple tests and assessments will be shot, cold, for recorded score, and the class’s top shot will receive a “Major Award”.

Shooters will be expected to already be proficient with their chosen handgun and carry method at the beginning of class. This class IS NOT SUITABLE as an introduction to formal handgun training. If you have never attended a handgun shooting class, please DO NOT sign up.
