Skills and Drills October 29th and 30th 2021

October 27, 2021 NewslettersSkills and Drills

We are on this weekend.

Friday is our regular S&D night at 7pm with us doing a series of standard exercises and drills for the night. More drills and repetition this Friday night, working on some standard drills from my old friend, the late Todd Louis Green. We’ll be working on Typewriter and Changing Gears Friday night.

Saturday night, starting at 6pm, will see us doing another setup of the Snake Drill, with different target engagements. This drill incorporates some of the most varied movement of any drill you can run and really works on your setups and exits. If you arrive late for setup you better stay for teardown or you will not be allowed to attend again.

Taping and resetting the stage:

  • The shooter who just shot and is looking at their target doesn’t tape
  • The shooter before that should be loading mags and doesn’t tape
  • The shooter who is next to shoot doesn’t tape
  • The RO and Score Keeper don’t tape
  • If RO’s have changed the RO that has retired gets to rest and doesn’t tape unless they want to.

Clear right? If you have to be told to tape twice, you will be asked to leave if you aren’t helping unless you have a very good reason. We need everyone helping to reset the stage, otherwise we won’t get all the planned runs in. Those with medical issues need to state this at the start of the night. If you know before arriving that you won’t be able to help, please, don’t sign up. It is not fair to those who put in all the work that someone sits and does nothing other than shoot. You will need to practice on your own and not come to these classes. After all props are put away, brass may be collected, do not take more than you have shot. If we have a 32 round long course, that means 128 rounds if we do 4 runs and you don’t take any extra shots. Extra brass is retained by the club.

There is a new registration system in place for both nights. If you wish to attend you must click the link below and register. Classes will be limited in size and it’s first come first serve.  Registration for the week will open immediately after I send post this to my website. Typically an email will then go out the next day.
