Skills and Drills July 18, Friday at 7pm

July 16, 2014 NewslettersSkills and Drills

Skills and Drills is taking a bit of a hiatus, the jaw is just proving to be too distracting, but it works out well as IPSC season is in full swing and, as such the IPSC club will be stepping in and running some stages. If the weather is good I think they might setup a stage on range 5 and if there is one using it, range 4. That would give people a chance to get in some serious practice before the nationals and provincials.

Skills and Drills for July 4th and 5th 2014

July 2, 2014 NewslettersSkills and Drills

Happy Canada day, yeah, whooo friggin hooo (some of you will understand why)

Anyhow, class this weekend is on. Friday is going to be about working at distance with the standard focus on fundamentals. We will also touch on remedial/immediate actions for pistol failures. Expect some dryfire drills as well, especially at 25. Saturday will be about turners again, as that’s the way to improve some of our match skills. I hear the class on Saturday last week burned a lot of ammo and had a lot of fun. We may even bring some steel and shroud it for fun.

Check out drill we’ll be working for a while.

Skills and Drills for Friday May 16th at 7pm

May 14, 2014 NewslettersSkills and Drills

This weeks class will be a combined class due to so many shooting the qualifiers at Thompson (not me though, but I hope to make it up to watch some if I can). As it is an IPSC weekend, we’ll be focusing on some of the more important skills related to the sport. So prepare to be pushed a little bit. New shooters and 22’s are still welcome, you’re just going to have your comfort zones tested I imagine.

I’d once again like to thank those of you who have been helping me out this last year and half. Having to cancel so many classes or have others run them for me is a big deal to me. My jaw is not getting any better, so hopefully things can continue on as is and eventually it will be fixed and I’ll be back to fighting form soon...

So you want to start shooting a pistol eh?

September 25, 2013 Newsletters

Where do you start? How do you start? What will you need? And who should you trust?

Not a lot of easy to answer questions there, as really, there are a lot of correct answers. But lets say you heard about me, and wanted to come shoot with us at Skills and Drills, or maybe even take some private classes. Where do you start? Well we start at the beginning, with the question, why? Why do you want to learn to shoot a pistol? Usually the answer is sport, or wanting to get in law enforcement, or self defense or… well those are the most common. Once that’s answered we start work on the pistol you want, most times this is already decided but occasionally input is requested and I do my best to not steer your to one specific pistol, I give you options...
