Skills and Drills Summer update and Steel Challenge

June 29, 2022 NewslettersSkills and DrillsSteel Challenge

Summer is officially here, at least calendar wise, the weather on the other hand…

So, S&D is still on hold as the indoor range is still under restoration. I hope we’ll back shooting in there in the fall, maybe Octoberish.

In the meantime, get out to the range and shoot damnit! We have Steel Challenge on Tuesday nights, and this coming Tuesday will see us on Range 3 shooting Outer limits with targets out to 105ft! Yes, steel challenge does shoot far targets. Cost is $5 for members of AFGC and $10 for non members. Setup is at 1830 and if you can’t make that, please stick around for tear down when we are done, usually right at 2200.

Thursday nights, except for when we have a meeting, are IPSC nights and you need to preregister for that https://www.supersaas.com/schedule/Abbotsford/IPSC you mu...

Just a quick update, Tuesday nights are back for Steel Challenge, and you don’t need to be a member of AFGC to attend. Setup starts at 6:30pm and we shoot right to 10pm.

Thursday nights Abby IPSC is back, and you do need to be a member of AFGC to attend. Please email ipsc@afgc.ca for more info on how to register.

Skills and Drills is unfortunately still not happening due to the club still needing to be fixed up.

Skills and Drills update, reloading components March 2022

March 14, 2022 NewslettersSkills and Drills

Things are getting closer and closer for us to open at AFGC, however it’s still awhile off, and the indoor even longer. I don’t expect the indoor will be open for shooting before May, maybe even June. Once the club opens Steel Challenge Tuesdays will be back, and likely soon after IPSC Thursdays, so keep your eyes open for that.

I still have some reloading components available, primers, 124gr HP and Round Nose and 147gr HP and Flat Point. I do not expect to get another order this year, so once this stuff is gone, that’s it, and I don’t expect to see primers hitting store shelves in any great volume either, regardless of brand. If you can find powder that you like, buy it too, as it’s going to be hard to come by this year again.

S&D Reloading update

February 13, 2022 NewslettersSkills and Drills

Finally my order has arrived after almost a year on back order.

I have available, Ginex/CamPro Small Pistol Primers, 124gr HP and RN, 147gr HP and RNFP, some 38 and some 40 S&W.

Prices have gone up. Primers are now $85 plus tax per 1000. I know, it’s insane. Bullets have gone up a bit too, but not as much, however a large increase in bullets prices is apparently on the horizon due to increases in metal costs. 124gr HP are $114/1000, RN are $112, 147hr HP $126/1000 and RNFP $124/1000

If you are interested please email me rob@activeshooter.ca

Classes are still on hold for the time being due to AFGC being shut down. There may be another option coming available soon, I will let you know. Once the club reopens classes will resume immediately.

Hope everyone is dry firing away like mad, using tho...

Skills and Drills for November 19 and 20 2021

November 16, 2021 NewslettersSkills and Drills

We’ll be working on submerged shooting this weekend. Friday will see us tethered in spot, holding our breath and shooting under water at targets 6 inches away. Saturday you will be navigating a stage while wearing a rebreather.

Okay, enough joking.

The club has been hit hard, we do not have a timeline of when we will be back to operational status. Currently about 6-8ft of water are on the property and there will obviously be significant damage as a result. I would be amazed to see the outdoor ranges usable before the New Year and the indoor before spring time.

We will rebuild and recover, but it’s going to take time.
